About
Safe, Sustainable Travel Torbay (SSTT), in conjunction with the National Trust, are excited to invite you to join us on a free, marshalled, five mile ride from Paignton Pier to the National Trust’s Greenway estate on Sunday 14 September at 9:30am.
The ride is designed to be safe and enjoyable for all abilities, with children welcome to join on their own bikes if they are able to cycle the distance. Thanks to E-Ridez St. Marychurch, a limited number of electric bikes will be available to hire for free on a first come, first served basis, and free entry to Greenway is available to all on arrival. Places must be booked in advance via Eventbrite, and there will be an optional group return ride back to Paignton.
Timed to celebrate World Car Free Day and the European Week of Mobility, the event highlights the benefits of active travel for people and the planet. “Cycling together we will enjoy a beautiful route to Greenway, and also show how easy and fun it is to leave the car behind,” Beth Huntley, SSTT.
Belinda Smith, Operations and Experience Manager for the National Trust adds ‘We would love to see more visitors cycling to and from our properties, cycling is a great way to enable visitors to engage with nature on their own terms and explore parts of the journey that they may not usually be able to access. Hosting a car-free visit to Greenway fits perfectly with our conservation values. Visitors will arrive sustainably, enjoy the scenery, and help protect this special place.”
