About

The Best of Devon Restaurants

With the freshest of seasonal produce from the south Devon Coast

At Cary Arms & Spa, we serve gastro food cooked simply. The watchwords in the kitchen are freshness and seasonality, underpinned by a deep-rooted respect for the surrounding waters and land. The specials board changes daily reflecting Devon coast and Devon country in equal measure. Expect superb Devon beef, Lyme Bay lobster and line caught seafood. Food to rival the best.

Hungry walkers, families, friends and travelling foodies - this is a place where even a pint of prawns is done with panache. Dine outdoors in the warmer months and watch south Devon life in the bay unfold. In cooler weather, choose something comforting and slowly cooked from the seasonally changing menus. The best quality local ingredients cooked simply and expertly explain why we are one of the best places to eat in South Devon!

Dining is relaxed and cosy in the inn, still holding the charm and character of when it was built in the 1880s. Charmingly restored, the historic inn is warmed by a log burner on cooler days.

For special occasions in those summer months a sure-fire way to impress your guests is to book the Captains Table, seating six, or the Pod, seating four, probably two of the best tables in Devon!

Seating up to eight people, our Wheel House, with panoramic sea views enclosed by original stone walls is the perfect place to celebrate all year round.

At lunchtimes enjoy the traditional service of a traditional English Inn, order at the bar from our friendly staff and take your time watching the world go by.

For a more formal service join us in the evening and be waited on by our team of local staff who will go out of their way to give you an experience to remember.

Join us on a Saturday evening for the chance to enjoy dinner whilst listening to our resident pianist or if you are after something more lively and informal why not book your Sunday roast with us for which we have a live guitar vocalist every other Sunday.

If you are looking for something special why not book into one of our Gastro Nights with menus specially designed for the occasion by Head Chef Steve Poyner and paired to wines chosen by Head Sommelier Antony Rios.

Although we are lucky enough to be located on the Jurassic Coast, perched on the edge of one of Devon’s most beautiful bays, parking is available in a public pay and display car park a short distance from our front door. Please be aware this car park can fill up during high season.
