About
Experience the historic and, we believe, magical village of St Marychurch – where the oldest ecclesiastical site of worship in South Devon, St Mary’s sits, dating all the way back to Saxon times. Castle Retreats is a 'renevatio' property nestled within its own castle grounds, down a sleepy, woodland drive offering cosy, clean and comfy self-catering accommodation as the perfect hideaway to escape the pace of life. Whilst tranquil, this adults only, uniquely styled accommodation has invested in Starlink Wi-Fi to ensure any guest connectivity requirements are met.
Situated perfectly for exploring the locality, you will find attractions, beaches, coastal and UNESCO Geopark walks, eateries and shops all within comfortable walking distance.
Every booking directly supports the renovation of this historic grade II listed castle with the preservation of Devonshire heritage as well as supporting local people through work and trade. We also give back to our community through contributions to local organisations including the magical St Marychurch Yarn Fairies.
We hope you will love your stay here - be prepared for a little quirkiness as the site is under renovation, come with an open mind and an open heart ready to explore local attractions such as the Model Village, Cliff Railway, Bygones, Oddicombe and Babbacombe beaches, prehistoric Kent’s Cavern, theatres, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Follow our Facebook page 'Castle Retreats' or visit our website at www.castleretreats.co.uk for a personalised feel of what is on offer. From the beginning of February 2024 we are fund raising through Crowdfunding – if you like the sound of donating in exchange for a package of retreat stay / attraction tickets and a hamper, why not visit our Crowdfunding project Castle Retreats enchanting grade II renovation - a Leisure crowdfunding project in Torquay by Tui Shirley (crowdfunder.co.uk)
