About
THIS EVENT IS PART OF THE ENGLISH RIVIERA WALKING FESTIVAL
Would you like to find out more about the wonderful world of trees?
Join renowned gardener and best selling author Simon Akeroyd for a gentle walk around the 1,000 year old parkland at Cockington Court, whose arboretum boasts a spectacular collection of trees and shrubs. Expect to see trees from across the world, including the Indian Horse Chestnut, Japanese Red Cedar, Mexican Weeping Pine and Jamaican Fiddlewood.
- Cockington Court has one of the greatest collections of ancient, veteran, rare and quirky trees in the country, including a few champion trees (biggest ones of their type in the country).
- Discover the evergreen shrub that enabled the British to become a nation of tea drinkers
- Admire the 400 old sweet chestnut tree with the face of an elderly man in the trunk, and hear about some of the largest and tallest trees on the planet.
- The tour will end at Torbay gin’s premises on Cockington Court, where you’ll receive complementary samples of their gin and rum
- Guests will also have the opportunity to chat with Simon afterwards and purchase a signed copy of his gardening books.
