About
This exciting quartet features some of the UK's leading jazz musicians playing a programme of their own distinctive take on some classic and contemporary jazz material along with recent compositions from Freeman himself.
Ralph Freeman, now based in London, founded the St Ives Jazz Club in 1996. As well as performing with his own London based trios and quartets, he has worked with and supported many of Britain's leading jazz musicians.
Steve Waterman studied at Trinity College of Music, since when has worked regularly on the British and European jazz scene with John Surman, Andy Sheppard, Tony Coe, Carla Bley, Don Weller and many others. He has recorded many critically acclaimed CDs under his own name as well as a number of CDs under the ECM label with John Surman's Brass Project and Carla Bley. He has won numerous BBC British jazz awards over the years and is very committed to Jazz education. He is professor of Jazz Trumpet at Trinity College of Music in London and visiting Jazz Trumpet specialist at The Royal Northern College Of Music and The Welsh College Of Music And Drama.
Marcus Vergette has toured extensively with different bands both nationally and internationally and was a featured composer/musician on BBC Radio 3's "Jazz on 3". He is also an artist and filmmaker. His creativity is rooted in the duality of being both sculptor and musician, spurred on by his belief in the democratisation of Art. The installation of bells often takes place to specially composed music.
Eddie Kingdom Hailing from a Devon farming family, Eddie began drumming in school. Pursuing a BA Honours in Jazz at Middlesex University, he was mentored by jazz luminaries such as Dave Ohm, Rick Finlay, Nikki Isles, Chris Bachelor, and Stewart Hall. He now focuses on the South West music scene, regularly playing with local and national artists across a mix of genres including with the Exeter Jazz Orchestra.
"Vibrant energising music with new compositions and arrangements that span from bluesy to bossa-esque, all with be-boppy brio" 'Dan Matlin'
