About
THIS EVENT IS PART OF THE ENGLISH RIVIERA WALKING FESTIVAL
Roll up for a truly pop-tastic experience!
Over the years, Torquay has been entertained by some of the greatest names in music, like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Bowie and ABBA. What makes this tour ‘magical’ is that local musicians Paul (saxophone) and Phil (guitar) will play a compilation of familiar songs from these bands, along the coastal route, whilst guests hear the fascinating trivia behind each song. Paul is also a local radio DJ, so not only does he have a good musical knowledge, he also used to work in the Met Police and will share some of his amusing anecdotes about singers that he’s encountered! The walk will take in everything from hymns to punk rock and folk to sea shanties and musical theatre thrown in for good measure. And afterwards, the party will continue at Offshore bar playing more musical numbers in their private room.
- Discover the musical talent that has been inspired by The English Riviera.
- Listen to classic songs played ‘live’ on the harbourside as the sun sets over Torquay – singing is encouraged!
- Did you know the Eurovision Song Contest was devised in Torquay?
- Did you know the first Radio One Roadshow took place in Torquay in 1973, hosted by Alan ‘Fluff’ Freeman?
