Hollicombe Beach, sits between Torquay and Paignton. With its distinctive red sand backed by tall cliffs it’s a sunbather’s paradise, and there’s a slipway to the beach giving easy access for people of all abilities. Don’t forget to take a fishing net for the kids, as there are some great rock pools to poke around in at low tide. A bucket and spade are also essential, as the sand here is excellent for making castles. To get to the beach, you’ll need to go through Hollicombe Gardens, but why not have a look around before hitting the surf? Originally an old gas works site, today you’ll find a beautiful green landscape, interesting trees and shrubs, flowerbeds with plenty of grass to relax on.
