It's no secret that the English Riviera is a photographer's paradise. From spectacular coastline, traditional towns and mysterious woodlands, there are plenty of picturesque locations to enjoy.

Meadfoot Bay

We couldn't write the Best Places to Take Photos on the English Riviera without mentioning this iconic view over Meadfoot Beach. This stunning spot is a hidden gem and takes a little know-how to get there.

Head to the Headland Hotel and follow the gravel coast path. It will lead you up a steep, narrow and winding path right on the edge of the cliff - this is not for the faint-hearted! As you follow the path around, you will be rewarded for your efforts with 180 coastal views over the English Riviera.

Babbacombe Downs

The UK's tallest cliff top promenade offers spectacular coastal views - on a clear day you can see right across to Portland Bill in Dorset. Babbacombe Downs has a large green and perfectly manicured flowerbeds leading down to the sea view.

Another unique photo opportunity lies just around the corner. If you’ve got a good head for heights, Babbacombe Cliff Railway is a great way to get down the cliff to Oddicombe Beach below.

Thatcher Rock

Thatcher Point overlooking Thatcher Rock is the subject of many an Instagram photo - and its easy to see why! This incredible view to the protected, uninhabited island offers fantastic photo opportunities.

Head to Thatcher Point in Torquay, and walk down the waterfront green, across the coastal path and you'll be greeted with this peaceful view of the island and beyond.

Cockington

The traditional thatched village of Cockington is as quaint as it sounds! Its a great place for those looking to step back in time and capture those quintessential English cottage photographs.

Afterwards, go to the Cockington Country Park where you will find 460 acres of woodlands, lakes, wildlife, a manor house, a 1000 year old church and a craft centre with talented craftspeople making things right before your eyes. With such a variety of things, there is something for every type of photographer at Cockington.

Brixham Town

The traditional fishing village of Brixham is full of places to grab the perfect Instagram pic. Many have compared Brixham to Cinque Terre in Italy, and its easy to see why! The town is filled with colourful cottages climbing up the hills surrounding the harbour.

In the middle of the harbour, alongside the other boats, you'll find a surprise in the form of replica pirate ship, the Golden Hind. This is a running theme throughout Brixham - keep your eyes peeled for pirate props, skeletons and people in fancy dress. For the real pirate aficionados, make sure to visit during the world famous Pirate Festival - yes it's as crazy as it sounds!

Berry Head

For the more wild side of Brixham, the Berry Head Nature Reserve is a paradise for photographers, whether you're into landscape photography, wildlife photography or food photography from the Guardhouse Cafe. With flora and fauna aplenty and 360 degree seaviews, Berry Head is a favourite for Instagrammers.

Paignton Pier

Right in the centre of the Bay, with Torquay to your left, and Brixham to your right, the long sandy beach at Paignton with the twinkly lights of the pier make excellent photos, especially at dawn or dusk. It is the most accessible beach on the English Riviera, with parking right next to the long, flat tarmacked promenade.

Roundham Head

In Paignton, just a stone's throw away from the centre of town, Roundham Head is a fantastic lookout across Torquay and Brixham. Its really easy to get to, and features everything you'd want for tropical photos - stunning sea views, exotic palm trees and acres of green space.
