Three Degrees West is located on Oddicombe Beach and boasts one of the most spectacular views in the bay.  It first opened its doors on the Easter weekend of 2015 and soon became a huge hit with locals and holidaymakers alike.  Offering all the obvious seaside snacks you could wish for, this Mediterranean style bar and bistro also has a fabulous breakfast, lunch and tapas selection.  With a fully licensed bar it's no wonder that it is such a popular spot to while away a few hours.

With plenty of indoor seating looking out through floor-to-ceiling windows, a host of outdoor tables for al fresco dining as well as a takeaway section for those looking to grab a snack and set up camp on the delightful Oddicombe Beach, Three Degrees West really does have all bases covered.

Storm Emma hits Oddicombe

Although just beginning its fourth year of operation, this stunning venue already has quite a traumatic history.  Storm Emma did its worst at the beginning of March this year with huge damage caused by tree trunks and all sorts of debris being hurled through the shutters, smashing windows and pretty much everything else in its wake.  The future looked bleak. However, incredibly, a mere six weeks later and Three Degrees West was open for business once again.

Oddicombe beach Cliff Railway

Three Degrees West and Oddicombe Beach are tucked away at the bottom of the cliffs at Babbacombe.  Accessed by a meandering wander down the road, and on the South West Coast Path although some prefer to arrive by boat, jet ski or paddle board. However, the most popular form of transport is of course Babbacombe Cliff Railway. This historic funicular railway is open pretty much all year round, particularly now that Three Degrees West is on the beach.

The Cliff Railway is an incredible way to arrive at this stunning location, as you slowly descend the railway, the beach reveals itself. This is particularly impressive early morning at sunrise. Amazingly the Ciff Railway welcomed 120 000 people through its door in 2017, and Oddicombe is still somewhat of a secret location. Don't let the locals have all the fun, jump onto the Railway and get down to Oddicombe for a unique Devon beach holiday this year.

Team Oddicombe beach

The two businesses work together, along with others on the beach, including Babbacombe Sailing Club.  Various events are hosted throughout the year and are usually a collaboration. Next up is The John Ayres Ukulele Proms.  Two days of live music in a marquee on the promenade. All completely free for everyone to enjoy. The team at Babbacombe Cliff Railway and Three Degrees West work together all the time as Team Oddicombe to jointly promote the resort as a whole.  The Cliff Railway, its Visitor Centre on the beach and Three Degrees West combined make visiting this very special place quite unique.

Mark Buck is the co-owner and Manager of the venue and, along with a team of around a dozen people, opens every day from 9am.  Mark absolutely adores Three Degrees West and his team. He said “We are a small, close knit team. Everyone knows what they're doing and they do the best job that they can.  We all look out for each other and we all support each other.”

Mark says “This is the best job in the world.  Every day, we open those shutters to reveal a simply stunning view.  We are lucky enough to have a huge number of regular customers all year round.  But, one favourite pastime is definitely watching and listening to those visiting us for the first time.  On a glorious day, as they sit with a platter or two of tapas, something sparkling and refreshing to drink, soaking up the view and the sunshine, people cannot believe they're in Torquay.  But we are!”

When not at work, Mark enjoys eating out with friends, with a particular favourite haunt being Legends at Steps.

Mark from Three Degrees West, Oddicombe

Mark welcomes anyone to the beach and encourages people to relax from sunrise right throught to sunset - Oddicombe beach is a great spot for both but we'll let you decide which you prefer when you visit.

The event will go ahead exactly as he planned which was that it be bigger and better than ever. Stretching over two days, there are over 20 bands lined up to bring you hours of great live music, FREE, in the music marquee on the beach. Babbacombe Cliff Railway will be running all day to transport you up and down the cliffs (usual Cliff Railway travel charges apply).
