Family-fun in Torbay

Young conservationists can learn about their favourite creature at Paignton Zoo. There are over 2,000 animals living in 80 acres of grounds transformed into special habitats from the savannah to the wetlands. You can get close up to the animals and find out more about the vital conservation efforts of this registered charity.
Specially devised trails help all ages to discover fossils and ice-age animal bones at Kents Cavern. And family fun activities let children to discover more about our native wildlife at Occombe Farm.
Beaches and bars
Do bars and beaches feature high on your list of holiday priorities? Combine the two with a trip to Oddicombe Beach, nestled at the foot of Babbacombe. Here you’ll find a laid-back Mediterranean vibe at the Three Degrees West bar and bistro. There’s a great food and bar menu, making this the perfect spot to sit back and soak up some rays on the terrace by the water’s edge. Or head to the chic Abbey Sands area of Torquay. Just across the road from the beach, you’ll find a choice of restaurants and bars serving up everything from cocktails to cake with a spectacular sea view.
History and culture in the English Riviera
Culture vultures can swoop in on one of the English Riviera’s many historical hot-spots. Agatha Christie fans can follow the Agatha Christie Trail or step into her footsteps with a look around her former home Greenway House. If architecture is your thing, visit the Edwin Lutyens designed Drum Inn at Cockington, which is also the perfect spot for a family lunch or dinner. Or book tickets for the Princess Theatre in Torquay or Babbacombe Theatre to catch shows varying from opera and ballet to some of the UK’s finest comedians.
