To open the Friday of our Literary Festival, the Agatha Christie Festival is delighted to welcome renowned historian Dr Angela Buckley.
In the early decades of the twentieth century, groundbreaking advances in forensic science led to some of the most notorious killers being brought to justice. Drawing on historical records and her professional expertise, Dr Angela Buckley explores landmark crime investigations, such as the 'Brides in the Bath' murders committed by George Joseph Smith, and the 'Blazing Car Mystery' that exposed Alfred Rouse. These high-profile cases transformed crime detection and captured the imagination of Agatha Christie.
Dr Angela Buckley is a historian and author specialising in historical true crime, Victorian and Edwardian detectives, and the evolution of forensic science. With a PhD in detective history, Angela has published seven books and is a regular contributor to national media, including podcasts and TV. She is a member of the Crime Writers' Association.
