About Us

Mini Geopark Festival 2021

Sat 29 May to Sun 6 June

The UNESCO Global Geopark status is something which really makes The English Riviera a unique place to visit. Come and celebrate with us during the Mini Geopark Festival, which runs from Saturday 29 May to Sunday 6 June 2021.

This mini event, which has been scaled down due to COVID restrictions, still features a whole host of activities and events celebrating our global status. It’s our chance to show how all of our partners work together to showcase the wonders of the Geopark.

Our key message this year is that as restrictions begin to ease and more people start to explore our wonderful open spaces, we all help protect our natural environment by keeping our parks, beaches and coastal paths litter free.

The full events programme is listed here and on our events calendar at www.englishrivierageopark.org.uk .

The Design Room – An Exhibition of Printmaking

1 June – 6 June (cont. to 22 June)

The Design Room’ welcomes printmakers from across the UK to show their work in an exhibition dedicated to printmaking in all its forms, featuring traditional and digital graphic design, and urban artforms in a showcase which will combine works presented in their raw and polished forms.

Among those exhibiting is Geopark based, Ian Cox. Ian produces detailed images by combining digitally reworked photographs and drawings taken on walks to produce hand-cut limited-edition relief lino prints. His practice almost mirrors that of exploring the Geopark, discovering narratives concealed within the subject matter, while the process and techniques of printmaking allow him to explore and redefine the textures, tones, light and form that give shape and definition to those ideas.

Contrasting Environments – An exhibition of paintings and woodcuts – Preview
5 June
Including locally inspired work, Artizan Gallery welcomes this stunning two woman show from the accomplished pair of Devon artists, whose artistic explorations are found exclusively in their experiences of the landscapes they pass through. It is this emphasis on experience that binds the work, whilst the subjects, with Sue Williamson’s focus on urban and built environments and Sarah Morris on more rural plains, offer pleasing juxtapositions of subject matter and scene.  This preview event is an opportunity to meet the artists (the main exhibition will run 8-19 June).
Venue: Artizan Gallery
Time:  18:00 – 20:00
Cost:  FREE
Is booking required:  Yes
