England's Seafood FEAST

Featured

  1. Brixham Fish Market buyer
More than £25 million of seafood is landed and auctioned each year at Brixham Fish Market, which makes it the highest value catch in England. Buyers include local fishmongers and restaurants, alongside national processors who supply top restaurants and supermarkets. Approximately half of the seafood sold at the auction is exported worldwide. A tour of the world-famous Brixham Fish Market gives a unique insight into the UK's only live fish auction. You will see behind the scenes and get in amongst the hustle and bustle of the Market. The tour culminates in a delicious fish breakfast at Rockfish, a restaurant located in the same building as the market. Fish doesn't get any fresher. It's well worth the 6am start!

  2. Guy Owen, Head Chef, the Idle Rocks
Guy Owen has been the head chef of the Idle Rocks in Cornwall since 2015. His menu champions Cornish food, and he works with fishermen and greengrocers to source the best local produce. By taking advantage of the local waters, Guy showcases not only the fish and shellfish close by, but also sea vegetables abundant on the coastline such as seaweed, samphire and sea pea. Guy developed some of his culinary expertise with some of the London's leading chefs, including Gordon Ramsay at his Michelin starred restaurant at Claridge's, Jerome Tauvron at L'Etranger and James Bennington and Bruce Poole at Michelin starred La Trompette. More recently and further west he has worked at Gidleigh Park under Michael Caines.
