About

Torbay Council have invested over £2 million in modernising toilets across Torbay with Healtmatic carrying out the work.

To support the funding of the modernisation work and the increased cleaning regime, a charge to use the toilets has been introduced. Charges are currently set at 30p.

The toilets can be accessed by contactless payments which is in line with national trends for all services to reduce the risk and financial pressures of using coin/cash handling systems. Contactless payments are now internationally recognised as a safe way of payment and this can be done by using your debit/credit card or smartphone.

Torbay Council no longer provide any toilets that can be accessed by a Radar Key. They do have a Changing Places toilet, which can be found at Festival Apollo in Paignton - https://www.torbay.gov.uk/leisure-sports-and-community/toilets/festival-apollo-toilets/. The info on this is:

Changing Places Facility – Paignton Seafront

Working closely with Torbay MENCAP and some funding from others including Paignton and Preston Rotary Club we have delivered the first facility of this type on public open space in the South/South West of England.

There is no charge to access the changing places facility. It is accessed by a door coded system, with the code being available on request from Healthmatic and by ringing the telephone number next to the access door.

The facility includes:

Height adjustable adult-sized changing bench

Hoist system

Adequate space in the changing area for the disabled person and up to two carers

Centrally placed toilet with room either side

Screen or curtain to allow some privacy

Wide tear off paper roll to cover the bench

Large waste bin for disposable pads

Non-slip floor
