Built in 1838, Vomero Holiday Apartments in Torquay is a stunning Grade II listed property with a rich and fascinating history. Among its notable former residents are Isambard Kingdom Brunel, who stayed here in 1848 and Haile Selassie in 1935. Their families, like today’s guests, enjoyed Vomero’s historic grandeur, from the impressive sweeping mahogany staircase to the beautiful stained glass windows.
Set within an acre of beautifully landscaped tiered gardens, Vomero offers guests a peaceful retreat with outdoor seating, dining areas, sun loungers and a guest barbecue. After a busy day exploring the English Riviera, return to the tranquillity of the gardens and relaxing sea views.
Vomero features six self catering holiday apartments, all with a sunny southerly aspect, making the property a true sun trap. The upstairs apartments, Vomero, Napoli, and Genova, each enjoy exceptional garden and sea views from their private balconies. On the ground floor, Roma and Venezia provide comfortable garden level accommodation, with Venezia opening through French doors onto its own private covered terrace with sun loungers. At the very top of the house, The Penthouse offers luxury adult only accommodation with spectacular sea views, a private sun deck, stylish bathroom with walk-in shower and bath, fully equipped kitchen and two double bedrooms.
Whether you are looking for a quiet and secluded base to explore Torbay, Devon and Cornwall, or simply somewhere to relax and unwind, Vomero is perfectly positioned. Guests can enjoy free onsite parking, EV charging, fast Wi-Fi and pet free accommodation throughout.
Located just a short stroll from Torquay town centre, the harbour, shops and seafront, Vomero is ideal for beach days, dining out, or enjoying drinks overlooking the bay. Popular nearby attractions include Kents Cavern, Babbacombe Model Village, Bygones and Torquay Museum. Torquay is also home to three theatres, including Princess Theatre, featuring West End productions and performances from well known artists.
Excellent public transport links make exploring easy, with regular buses, local taxis, ferry services across the bay to Paignton, Brixham and Dartmouth, plus nearby Torquay and Torre train stations. You can simply park at Vomero and leave the car until it’s time to head home.
There is no shortage of things to do nearby, including golf at Torquay Golf Club, bowling at Hollywood Bowl, kayaking and paddleboarding, indoor swimming and leisure facilities at Riviera International Centre, lawn bowls, tennis, climbing and bouldering, fishing trips around the bay, and fun filled days at Splashdown Quaywest and Torquay Watersports.

Road Directions
From the M5, take the A380 followed by the A3022 towards Torquay. As you arrive in Torquay, follow signs for the seafront rather than the town centre.
Once you reach the seafront, turn left and continue along the road, passing Princess Theatre and the harbour on your right-hand side, pass the Clock Tower, bearing left towards Babbacombe.
Stitchill Road is the fifth turning on the left. Vomero is the last property on the left hand side of the road. We recommend using the driveway just beyond the sloped driveway, through the white pillars for the easiest access.
