Settling in the Torbay countryside, Higher Yalberton Farm is a stunning collection of renovated barns that have been newly converted and refurbished.

Offering three contemporary holiday homes in an idyllic setting on the edge of the South Hams, the farm is just four minutes drive from Stoke Gabriel and the River Dart, and although you’ll feel away-from-it-all, Torbay’s towns and beaches are in fact just a few minutes’ drive from the front door.

Adventure on your doorstep

Wonderfully positioned to enjoy all that the area is famous for, the small riverside villages of Aish and Tuckenhay are within a few minutes’ drive away. Here you’ll discover the famous Maltsters Arms which sits right on the Harbourne River and was once owned by TV Chef Keith Floyd, as well as the rustic 17^th Century Watermans Arms. Both are brilliant places for an alfresco lunch or traditional pub food. The sought-after market town of Totnes lies 11 minutes’ drive away and is well-known for its independent boutiques, local crafts and fabulous food scene, with Dartington Hall nestling on its outskirts and boasting beautiful gardens and fabulous woodland walks.

Closer to home is Stoke Gabriel, one of the area’s quaintest and prettiest villages, which is just 4 minutes’ drive or (for the more energetic) 40 minutes’ walk. This small yet stunning village has narrow winding streets and a handful of traditional pubs. A creek on the Dart lies at the bottom of a hill and here you’ll find a seasonal cafe as well as the perfect place for crabbing with the kids.

The fishing town of Brixham is 15 minutes’ drive away and is well worth visiting if you’re fond of incredible sea views and a charming coastal atmosphere. Berry Head Nature Reserve with its Guardhouse Café makes for an intriguing day out for all the family, and you’ll have the most incredible views from the lighthouse on the headland, over the whole of the bay. Torbay’s vibrant seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay, both with their wonderful beaches, lovely promenades and attractions like Paignton Zoo, Cockington and Torre Abbey are within 15 minutes’ drive.
