Charming elegant victorian villa (formerly the Great Western Hotel) delightfully situated in the heart of Agatha Christie country at the harbour end of Paignton with one of the finest collections of model railways, steam engines, ships and vintage toys to be found anywhere.

The Great Western is a privately owned detached guest house and can only be described as one of the finest of its size in Paignton. It is our contention that few others equal it in any aspect of comfort, catering and hospitality. Our aim is to provide for our guests, a friendly and personal service, they prove we achieve this by returning year after year.

The Great Western Hotel is set close to Paignton's harbour and within 5 minutes' walk of the Dartmouth steam railway and mainline train station and bus station.

The local regular service Stagebus number 12 will take you to Brixham, Torquay or Newton Abbot.

This themed guest house features a collection of model railways and steam engines, vintage tin toys and railway memorabilia. The Victorian-era villa offers classic English design and rooms with traditional décor.

There is also a railway-memorabilia-themed lounge, a sun lounge and a pleasant garden.

We are also very close to Paignton beach, where you can breathe in the lovely fresh sea air, enjoy a game of crazy golf, visit Paignton Pier, choose a film at the multiplex cinema or the kids can play safely at the Geopark playground. There are plenty of places to eat and drink from along the way.
