Amber House provides four-star guest accommodation in the popular seaside town of Paignton on the English Riviera. We are focused on customer comfort and care and offer quality accommodation with beautifully-designed bedrooms, delicious made-to-order cooked breakfasts and a warm welcome. We have attained the prestigious Silver award and four-star rating from Visit England. 

Amber House is a dog-friendly venue, situated in an ideal location to access the dog-friendly beaches and attractions in the area. We love dogs and welcome guests and their four-legged friends. Dogs are allowed in our delightful garden, where dog litter bins are provided. A small charge is made to ensure that the rooms are maintained to a high level of cleanliness and we also provide drinking water and washing water, cloths to wipe dirty paws, dog bowl mats in the room, water bowls and dog beds.  We apply a small charge for scoop bags, blankets, laundering services and dog tags with a refundable deposit required.

Our breakfast service takes place in our delightful, bright and sunny ground floor, south-east facing dining room as well as outdoors when the weather is fine. We can cater for vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy/lactose and other special dietary requirements so please let us know when you book. We welcome families with well-behaved children and the minimum age is 4 years.

We have a well-stocked bar with a range of locally sourced bottled beers, wines, sparkling wine, champagne and a variety of spirits, liqueurs and soft drinks. Guests can enjoy drinks in the pleasant bar area with a conservatory, in the garden or in the bedroom, if preferred. We have a guide book library for guests to browse for inspiration for things to do.

There are sets of wooden garden furniture, parasols and a swing bench in the grounds for guests to enjoy the mild climate and scenic views.

There are 10 guest bedrooms including some on the ground floor which are suitable for people with limited mobility and those unable to manage stairs. The rooms are individually named such as Agatha, Rockpool and Tall Ships and have en-suite bathrooms, comfortable beds, a TV and DVD player, free Wi-Fi access, beverage-making facilities, a hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. There are rooms on the ground floor and first floor, and please note that we do not have a lift and access to the first floor is via a staircase with a handrail and is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Located in the heart of the English Riviera, we are an ideal base to explore South Devon. The English Riviera’s 22 miles of breath-taking coastline forms part of the famous South West Coast Path, a popular route with keen walkers and ramblers. The area also has designated UNESCO Global Geopark status with gateway sites at Berry Head Nature Reserve in Brixham (6.1 miles) and Kents Cavern in Torquay (5 miles).

There is a gravelled, large car park with enough free parking onsite for one space per room. For guests arriving by coach or train, Paignton Bus Station Paignton Railway Station and Garfield Road (0.6 miles), a pick up and drop off point for coaches are within a short walk. There are excellent transport links if you wish to leave the car behind with a selection of cycle hire, coach and boat trips and Dartmouth Steam Train journeys available throughout the year.

Our quiet location is ideal for a relaxing short break with a loved one or group of friends or a longer holiday with family members. Paignton Beach (1 mile) and harbour, Goodrington Sands (2.4 miles) and Young’s Park (1.2 miles) can be easily accessed on foot.   We have an excellent location to explore the fantastic coast and beautiful Devon countryside or to simply enjoy the tremendous amount of English Riviera attractions and family activities on the doorstep.
