About

THIS EVENT IS PART OF THE ENGLISH RIVIERA WALKING FESTIVAL

This journey take guests through the back streets of Brixham, just away from the main visitor areas around the harbour.

You’ll walk through its hickledy-pickledy narrow streets, filled mainly with formerly fishermen’s cottages. It’s a town steeped in history, with quaint shops, quirky buildings and natural caverns built up around a thriving fishing port. And at the end of the tour, enjoy some locally caught fish, whilst watching the trawlers land their catch at the harbour.

Enjoy the magnificent vistas Brixham offers from lesser known vantage points

Find out how the town grew from a population of 39 (listed in The Doomsday Book) to the present day

Discover the history of street names like Overgang and Temperance Street

Admire the wonderful painted murals which adorn the town’s buildings

Learn how the iron mines gave Brixham fishing boats their red sails

Hear of the town’s connections with Robin Hood and The Beatles
