Art on Your Doorstep: National Gallery Masterpieces Coming to Torquay

Torre Abbey is proud to announce its participation in The National Gallery: Art on Your Doorstep, a new national touring project bringing iconic artworks from the National Gallery’s collection directly to communities across the UK.

As one of the first four partners selected for the 2025–2026 programme, Torbay will host a unique outdoor exhibition from 6th March 2026 – 5^th September 2026, featuring life-sized reproductions of masterpieces from the National Gallery. These works will be displayed in a free, open-air exhibition stretching from Torre Abbey to Torquay Harbour, celebrating the town’s stunning seafront and its rich cultural heritage.

This initiative offers residents and visitors a rare opportunity to experience world-class art in everyday settings. Each reproduction will be framed and printed to scale, allowing viewers to appreciate the brushwork and intricate details up close — without needing to travel to London.

The exhibition will be shaped by and designed by Torre Abbey, engaging with Torquay’s landmarks, heritage spaces and iconic seafront. As one of Torbay’s flagship heritage sites, the Abbey is delighted to be playing central role in hosting and supporting this National exhibition, reinforcing its position as a hub for arts and culture in the region.
