Famous faces at The Babbacombe Theatre

The theatre has witnessed a number of famous faces over the last 80 years. Way back in 1955 and 1956, Bruce Forsyth, headlined in the Hedley Claxton's 'Gaytime'. Other names around this time included David Nixon, Ted Rogers, Ray Allen, Norman Vaughan and Roy Hudd.

From the 1980’s to the present day has seen a whole raft of celebs grace the stage. These include Bernie Winters, Paul Shane, Jimmy Cricket, Henning Wehn, David Hamilton, Michael Portillo, Ed Byrne and James Acaster.

The first ticket to Babbacombe Theatre

The very first concert at Babbacombe Theatre was on the afternoon of 27th May 1939. The Earnest Gross Municipal Orchestra and BBC Baritone John Steabben were on stage, followed that evening by the opening night of the first summer show, Cabaret Revels.

Tickets for this event were available at 3/-, 2/- and 6d. Roughly 3 shillings and sixpence. Which would be worth roughly £22 now.

A special anniversary should be celebrated and celebrated in epic proportion! So, as they celebrate their 80th year in providing world-class entertainment, they are very pleased to welcome Fleetwood Bac to their stage to wow another batch of curious customers.

Fleetwood Bac will be on stage Friday 1st March 7.30pm. They are the world’s first, and best Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band. Endorsed by Mick Fleetwood himself, the only Mac tribute to authentically replicate the classic 'Rumours' line-up and you can see them for one night only in Torquay on Friday 1st March at the Babbacombe Theatre.

Over the last few years they have received rave reviews from 'The Stage' newspaper, the U.K.s leading Fleetwood Mac fan sites, the official Stevie Nicks website; and from ecstatic audiences wherever the band played, wowing audiences as far afield as Dubai, St. Tropez, the Cayman Islands and Monte Carlo, and recently selling out the world-famous Minack Theatre in Cornwall.

Rated by The Times newspaper as one of the U.K.'s top 5 tribute shows, alongside The Bootleg Beatles, Bjorn Again and the Counterfeit Stones, you can be assured that the sound, the look, the mystical atmosphere and on-stage chemistry are all portrayed with the passion and energy that got the seal of approval from ‘Big Daddy’ Mick, and built up an excellent reputation amongst Mac fans through numerous tours, festival appearances, corporate events and TV and radio slots all over the U.K. and Europe.

The Fleetwood Bac show focuses on the ‘Rumours’ era of the band (still the 5th biggest-selling album of all time). It also features several songs from the Peter Green days, plus some of Stevie’s biggest solo hits, in a theatrical 2-hour show.
