About
Step into history at the Smugglers, a charming 17th-century hotel in the heart of Brixham, just moments from the bustling harbour. Our beautifully restored building tells the tale of notorious Devon smuggler Bob Elliot, who famously escaped Revenue men in 1851 by hiding in a coffin built in what is now our reception area.
Under passionate new family ownership, this historic gem has been lovingly transformed while preserving its remarkable character. Fourteen thoughtfully appointed guest bedrooms span three floors, each featuring en-suite bathrooms with shower, flat screen TV, tea and coffee facilities, wardrobe and complimentary wifi. Our superior rooms offer extra space and comfortable seating areas, with ongoing improvements bringing every room to superior standards.
Our spacious restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and evening meals, featuring our spectacular open Argentina-style ox grill where chefs prepare prime steaks over open flame right before your eyes for an unforgettable theatrical dining experience. We also showcase the freshest fish straight from Brixham harbour. Relax with a drink in our welcoming bar after exploring the idyllic fishing harbour and stunning English Riviera – the perfect base for discovering Torbay's attractions and natural beauty.
Our dedicated team extends a genuinely warm welcome, creating a relaxed, friendly atmosphere whilst maintaining our commitment to quality accommodation, delicious food and exceptional customer service.
