About Us

The Baytree is situated in a quiet tree-lined road in Torquay, within easy reach of the English Riviera’s award-winning attractions. Approximately 800m (0.8 miles) from the seafront and 400m (0.3 miles) from Torre Abbey Gardens. Torquay Coach Station and Torquay Railway Station are nearby, and Torquay town centre, high street and independent shops and all major attractions are within easy walking distance.

The Baytree is an ideal adult-only (over 18’s) accommodation for a romantic break, much-needed weekend away with a group of friends or a long stay holiday.  For guests arriving by car there is free car parking and if you are flying in to Exeter airport we can provide an airport pick-up service, some conditions apply so please ask us for details.

Our four-star rated Guest Accommodation, has received a Silver Award and Highly Commended for Best Bed & Breakfast in the English Riviera Quality Awards.  We offer personal attention at all times. Our delightful, family run, well-maintained Victorian property offers quality accommodation, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, high standards of cleanliness and excellent, freshly prepared home-cooked food.

For the breakfast service, served in our dining room between 9am and 9.30am (or earlier by arrangement) we offer a varied and generous menu with a selection of cereals, yoghurts, fruit juices, tea and coffee and a choice of hot, cooked-to-order dishes including smoked salmon and scrambled egg, Full English, or Continental or Lighter option breakfasts. Vegetarian options are available and special dietary needs can be catered for. All food produce that we serve is sourced locally, where possible, to help support small businesses and local trade within the Devon area.

Whether on holiday or just visiting for business purposes, our quality en-suite guest rooms provide the discerning visitor with a tranquil haven from which to base their stay. There are six well-appointed, comfortable bedrooms with two superior rooms on the ground floor and four rooms on the first floor, which consists of two standard and a further two superior guest rooms.  All rooms are spacious, light, tastefully decorated, refurbished to a high standard and include bath sheets and hand towels, quality toiletries, free Wi-Fi internet with superfast fibre optic broadband, daily complimentary tea and coffee, hairdryers, radio alarms and Freeview LCD TV. As a four-star bed and breakfast, we trust you will find all the items you would expect either in your room or within our B&B in Torquay. We are here to help - should you require assistance please do not hesitate to ask.

The Baytree is an ideal base to explore Torquay and the English Riviera, a designated UNESCO Global Geopark. If you enjoy walking or rambling and are thinking of exploring the local area on foot, follow the famous South West Coast Path, which meanders along the 22 miles of the English Riviera coastline. No car travel or parking is required, just get your boots on and start exploring. Great for in-expensive days out we can provide a packed lunch (at a small cost, let us know the day before) or if you prefer, why not call into one of the country pubs to try the local beer or visit a tea room serving delicious, traditional Devon cream teas.

Spend a day out at the picture-postcard village of Cockington (1.5 miles) with its thatched cottages, rose gardens, horse-drawn carriage rides, manor house and country park. The nearby district of Babbacombe (1.8 miles) has stunning, far-reaching views from Green Flag award-winning Babbacombe Downs, and the charming Babbacombe Cliff Railway, popular Babbacombe Theatre for variety shows and award-winning Babbacombe Model Village are definitely worth a visit.
