Summerhill is a fine late Victorian detached house; once the private residence of the Chaplain of the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth. Tastefully modernised, it is now a charming family-run hotel.
Set in the heart of Torbay, Summerhill’s fabulous position offers views across the Bay and coastline towards the bustling fishing port of Brixham.
Relax on the beach in minutes; we’re only 200 metres from Goodrington Park and its long sandy beaches. Within a short stroll are the stunning cliff walk and gardens, picturesque Paignton Harbour, Torbay Steam Railway station, Torbay Leisure Centre, water theme park, kayaking and water sports centre.
A detached Victorian building with sun patios, balcony and garden; Summerhill offers a warm welcome, luxury rooms, professional friendly service, free Wi-Fi, ample free car parking and restaurant serving freshly prepared meals using locally sourced ingredients.
All this in a peaceful atmosphere to help you relax and unwind.
Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of our restaurant and bar with its ever changing view of the sea framed by Torbay's red sand stone and wooded coast line.
At Summerhill we pride ourselves on the quality of our food. Using the finest locally sourced ingredients our dedicated chef creates delicious homemade dishes to satisfy the keenest of appetites.
Our breakfast menu, possibly the best in the bay, offers a comprehensive choice of hot and cold foods; freshly ground bean to cup coffee, speciality teas and our 'piece de resistance' the SUMMERHILL TRADITIONAL BREAKFAST. If our Breakfast doesn't set you up for the day, then NOTHING WILL!
Our evening dinner menu presents a selection of freshly prepared dishes using selected West Country reared meats and Brixham landed fish accompanied by fresh vegetables and
One of the reasons guests return year after year is the excellent cuisine and choice of menu offered. Special diets, vegetarian dishes and childrens menus present no problem.
The hotel faces south and the view from the windows is to the lovely sandy Goodrington beaches, literally within a couple of hundred metres away, where there is safe bathing. The South West Coastal Path is adjacent
Without stepping into your car, just next to Summerhill is the lovely Young’s Park with its boating lake, board walk and relaxing green leading to the beach. Beautiful cliff walk to wander up and down or simply relax and gaze at the sea from one of its many benches. At the end of the promenade you can simply carry on to the South West Coastal path and walk to Brixham with lovely views of the sea. Or jump on the steam train from the park and visit Dartmouth.
From the beach you can try kayaking, coasteering, water skiing or simply explore the rock pools
Or wander over the cliff walk to Paignton harbour where you can get on one of the numerous boating trips or just sit and watch the harbour activities.
