About
Welcome to St Edmunds Guest House.
Having taken over St Edmunds Guest House in December 2019, then being locked down for nearly 12 months in March 2020, Linda and Roger have spent all their time refurbishing the interior and exterior of St Edmunds to a high standard, retaining some of the 1850’s charm and characteristics but using a modern twist, updating, painting, and replacing furniture, bedding and carpets throughout.
We believe you don’t have to compromise on quality!
We have seven comfortable rooms, a combination of single, double, twin and triple (double and single bed) all of which are en-suite. Ground floor rooms are available for guests with access difficulties – please ask when booking. Contractors are welcome (early breakfast available).
Small well behaved dogs are welcome, unfortunately we cannot accept larger dogs. Please ask when booking. There is a park for dog walking just 50 metres away and the seafront within 200 metres.
We offer a varied and generous breakfast menu, with early and individual diets catered for.
The house has central heating throughout. Each room has a large ‘Smart’ television, clock radio, hairdryer, free fast Wifi and a well-stocked beverage tray. Fresh towels and toiletries are provided. Iron and ironing board are available.
The front garden is available to sit and while away a little time amongst our Torbay palms. St Edmunds is non-smoking throughout, although guests may use the garden and front patio areas.
There is free on site parking with a car space for each room. If you don’t want to do any driving whilst you are here, just lock your car and leave it. St Edmunds is 200 metres from the sea front at Paignton and a 300 metre level walk to the local town and amenities. The bus, mainline and steam train stations are also within close level walking distance (350 metres). Public transport is frequent and very good.
Sea anglers and walkers (we are on the South West Coast path) are welcome. For cyclists this is a superb location for rides in all directions. For Steam railway enthusiasts, we are just a short walk from the Paignton to Kingswear and Dartmouth line, running regular steam services all day, also offering a Round Robin Train, River boat and Bus trip to Dartmouth, Totnes and back..
Paignton has lots to do and see including the Pier, Paignton Zoo, Geopark, Pirates Jungle crazy golf and the Harbour, The Free to view Paignton Air Days with the Red Arrows, Paignton Regatta, seafront concerts, exhibitions and the Torbay Half Marathon. We are close to Greenway House which was Agatha Christie's holiday home and is open to the public with viewing through the National trust. Numerous yachting events are held in Torbay throughout the year.
There is always something to do in Paignton..an ideal holiday destination!
