About

Trip Advisor award - 13th Best B&B in the UK.

Sampford House is a Grade II listed 18thC fisherman's house overlooking Brixham harbour with sea views across Torbay to Torquay. Built in 1782 it has been a guest house for some fifty years. Brixham is an ideal base from which to tour the South Hams area and further west to the Eden Project and the many glorious beaches, coves and beautiful West Country towns and villages.

Our rooms are all en-suite and most have been redecorated - many have wonderful sea views. The lounge and dinning room has a log burning stove which is lit on colder evenings and all rooms have central heating.
We are proud of our freshly cooked breakfast which features famous local sausages. Hog's pudding, local bacon, free range eggs as well as the usual items. We also offer a large range of cereals, homemade muesli, Brixham honey, homemade marmalades etc. Vegetarian and vegan options are always available. With prior notice we will arrange early breakfasts and packed lunches.

Sampford House also boasts a one bedroom self-contained cottage to the main building with a double bedroom with a four poster bed and bathroom upstairs and a lounge downstairs. The lounge has a double sofa bed and this is let on a bed and breakfast basis with breakfast being taken in the main dining room. Guests in the cottage have their own front door and the kitchenette is equipped with a microwave and fridge. So if you need or want a little more space and privacy then this is ideal for a short break in Brixham. As it is quite cosy we recommend that a maximum of three adults could occupy or a family of up to four including children.

We are an ideal location for walkers, fishermen, or for people who just want to chill out. We welcome well behaved dogs on a pre-booked basis.

Sampford House is a stones throw from the Harbour, town centre, Marina, Breakwater Beach, Berry Head Country Park and the South West Coast Path. Not only does Brixham offer beautiful sea views, amazing local events and a hugely important fish market, It wouldn't be much good if we had this huge fish market but nowhere to serve delicious and brilliant food from would it!  Fortunately, Brixham has a wonderful array of different restaurants, cafes and bars to enjoy both fish and non-fish dishes, there really is something for everyone, from a gastro-pub, to fine dining, even carribean themed food!
