If you are looking for a peaceful, tranquil waterside setting that is surrounded by countryside whilst being convenient for Torbay & South Hams, and offering excellent value for money; look no further! Twelve smashing holiday bungalows to choose from, accommodating between 2 & 4 persons (max 3 adults at any one time) in Galmpton, near Brixham. Most bungalows dog friendly with dogs going free.
Galmpton Park Holiday Bungalows are set in an idyllic location on the fringes of Galmpton village, near Brixham. Nestled between Torbay and the Dart Valley in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which is also a Coastal Preservation Area. The park commands an excellent position that takes full advantage of the superb views of the River Dart and across to Dartmoor in the distance.
Galmpton Park is a very attractive, quiet and peaceful site, being a small and well-kept development of privately owned holiday bungalows (no pubs or clubs). We are a convenient 10 minute stroll to the charming village pub. The Manor Inn which serves local produce and is dog friendly. (A further 400 yards on is the excellent Weary Ploughman pub and restaurant on the main road). As well as the pub, the village also has a general store/post office, a butcher and a hairdresser.
A short drive takes you to the larger supermarkets and amenities of Brixham (3 miles), Paignton (4miles) & Torquay (7 miles).
Agatha Christie’s former home, the captivating Greenway House & Gardens (now National Trust), is just a mile down the road and within walking distance for many people.
All the bungalows have their own sunny south facing patio area.
Sandy beaches are nearby; Broadsands is a mile and Goodrington Sands two and a half miles. The pebbly Elberry Cove is also a mile. Goodrington North sands and Elberry Cove beaches are both open to dogs all year.
Dartmouth is a few miles away via the car ferry from Kingswear, or you can take a wonderfully nostalgic steam train ride from Paignton (or Churston station which is less than a mile from Jenny Wren). The historic town of Totnes is just over 7 miles.
Most of the bungalows welcome your well behaved dog, with the majority being accepted free of charge. Some bungalows will allow a second small/med sized dog for a small fee. In fact the area is brilliant dog walking territory, with beaches & miles of countryside to run in from the doorstep. The cracking thing about the area is that you can choose whether you want the relaxing tranquillity of the countryside & river, the fun of the beach, or perusing the shops in any of the surrounding towns.
Please visit my website for detailed accommodation descriptions, prices and images (no trick photography techniques used).
The bungalows have different owners and so facilities vary from bungalow to bungalow.
