About
Our team relays return in April 2027 and we are running two relay formats one after the other.
At 2.15 pm it’s the standard relay triathlon. Here a team of three (or two) each take on one or two elements. So typically one person does the swim, another does the bike and a third does the run. For our standard team relay the distances are a 400m swim (16 lengths), a 19.5K bike (13 laps) and a 5K run (2 laps)
2.30pm our Mixed Relay Triathlons start. This fast-paced event, now seen in the Olympics, and the World Triathlon Championships Series is where a mixed team of four (two female and two open participants) all take it in turns to complete a super sprint triathlon before tagging their teammate. For our Mixed Team Relay the distances are a 300m swim (12 lengths), a 7.5K bike (5 laps) and a 1.8K run (1 lap)
Both Relay events will start in waves of up to 12 swimmers. There are two swimmers to a lane staying on their own side of their lanes to ensure no overtaking is required.
Click the video link at the top of this page to see the excellent video GTN made when they took part in our Mixed Team Relay a couple of years ago.
For the Mixed Team Relay: You will need 4 competitors per team with a minimum of 2 female members. All male teams or 75 percent male team are permitted and we will publish results for them but won’t be eligible for prizes.
For the Standard Team Relay: You will need 2 or 3 competitors per team. They can be any mix of genders.
