Music on the Meadows promises to be the biggest free party on Torre Abbey Meadows in Torquay in decades. Expect an amazing day and evening of entertainment for all the family, in celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Red, white and blue yourself up for the day and join us for a nostalgic musical odyssey through the decades of The Queen’s reign and don’t forget to grab a flag to wave.
The party will run from 11am right through until 10.30pm, featuring main stage music entertainment from the likes of South Devon Rock Choir, Funk City Band, John Matthew and Happy Days, with their spectacular Platinum Jubilee Show. There will also be party DJ sets from the McGowan Family and Chris Macmeikan MBE.

The musical entertainment will come to a magnificent close with very special headliners, The BOOTLEG BEATLES, who have performed everywhere from The Cavern to Buckingham Palace and the Royal Albert Hall to Glastonbury Festival. People will also be given free (sustainable) flags to wave, giving the whole event a Last Night of the Proms-feel.
The event will also boast a Children’s Tent with lots of fun, family entertainment from the team behind Children’s Week. Doorsteps Arts will be on hand providing theatre entertainment, while there will be a family-friendly circus show called Do What Your Mama Told Yah, which promises to get very messy.
There will also be various walk-abouts, including Tall Will, the world’s tallest bubbleologist. The Scouts will also be running lots of traditional games including a Crockery Smash and Splat the Rat. Also on the menu will be face painting and glitter tattooing, as well as arts and crafts activities.
A variety of refreshments will be on sale throughout the event, so there’s sure to be something to tantalise everyone’s tastebuds, from traditional cream teas and homemade cake to cold beer and delicious savoury bites. Join us for what promises to be a right royal knees-up and a wonderful celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s 70 Years of Service to the British people.
