If the kids are happy then you’re happy. From watching the delight on their faces as they sample their first taste of fresh, sweet Brixham crab to grabbing a quick bite beside the beach, you’ll find restaurants, cafes and pubs across Torbay that make eating out with children a doddle.

Family-friendly restaurants that keep the adults happy too

Finding a venue where you can enjoy a more sophisticated meal whilst the children can munch on their favourites has been known to cause many a holiday headache. Luckily, you won’t have that problem in the English Riviera. Many of our more grown-up restaurants, such as the rustic Drum Inn at Cockington or No 7 Fish Bistro in Torquay, offer great value kids menus too or smaller portions. That means you can concentrate on what you want to order, with peace of mind that the children will be happy too.

Rockfish Torquay and Rockfish Brixham also offer a children’s menu and they’ll get an activity pack to keep little fingers busy whilst they wait. Or head to the Breakwater Bistro in Brixham. With fantastic views over the bay, their traditional menu is perfect for children and is a great place to take the whole family.

Family-friendly restaurants with added entertainment

Whatever the weather, children of all ages will love the flume and play area at Waves Leisure Pool at Torquay’s International Riviera Centre. Take advantage of the excellent value dip and dine offer from the onsite Aqua Lounge, a contemporary café with an extensive menu. There’s also a pirate themed soft play area for under 8 year olds and a terrace overlooking the beautiful Torre Abbey Gardens– you could find you spend the whole day here!

For many families, Torbay’s biggest draw is the sandy beaches that stretch on and on. Many a day can be happily spent splashing in the waves, digging sandcastles or discovering starfish in the rock pools at low tide. And you won’t need to leave the beach when tummies start to rumble thanks to the number of cafes, restaurant and snack huts conveniently located right by the beaches. Try The View at Goodrington Sands for pizza, pasta and ice cream sundaes or the Fishcombe Cove Cafe in Brixham.

Let them work up an appetite running on Babbacombe Downs before you stop for supper at Hanbury’s Fish and Chips. Or settle down to enjoy an evening of entertainment together at the Babbacombe Inn.
