The obvious of bringing a tent should go without saying so we won’t mention it again. We’ll also be leaving the digital devices at home, these are the essentials for a   and fun time on the campsite in Devon;

  • A sleeping bag - First on our list is one almost as obvious as the tent itself… sleeping bags. They're important for a great night’s sleep so make sure you get one that will keep you warm enough during the night. Even in the height of summer, it can be a bit chilly when the sun goes down.

  • Camping chairs - It’s a good idea to have a place to sit other than the ground or inside your tent. Camping chairs are a great option and make it easy to sit out and gather together while you enjoy a drink. If you can find one with a built-in, handy drinks holder then that's even better!

  • Reusable water bottle - We have use of fresh running water at many locations on our camping fields so make sure you bring along some refillable water bottles. You don’t want to get dehydrated and they can also come in handy for those day trips out exploring the English Riviera. #noexcuseforsingleuse

  • A Torch - A torch or a battery powered lantern is important to see exactly where you're going as you make your way to the toilet in the middle of the night when nature calls.

  • Wet weather gear - While sunny South Devon has more than its fair share of sunshine, it does rain occasionally. Keep a check on the weather during your stay and be prepared if there’s a chance of a shower. Otherwise, you might have to spend the rest of the day in wet clothes and no one likes that.

Other important things not to forget also include;

  • Come with a plan - you’re in England after all, have a plan B in case the weather lets you down.

  • Beach towel and swimsuit - Whether for a trip down to our many nearby local beaches or for a splash about in our outdoor or indoor swimming pool, don’t forget to pack your beach towel and swimsuit.

  • Sun cream - Sun cream is essential for the summer months in South Devon when you're spending most of your day outside and remember to keep reapplying too, especially after a summer swim in our outdoor swimming pool.

  • A camera - this should be a must for any holiday, especially when camping at Beverley Holidays. Not only to capture the stunning sea views that our many camping pitches enjoy but also those happy holiday snaps to look back on and reminisce over in years to come. Share your family moments using #rivieramoments to be featured on The English Riviera channels.
