Curry in Torquay, enjoy a curry on the English Riviera in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham

That’s right folks, its National Curry week (22-26 October 2018), a whole week to celebrate the Nation’s favourite food!

We have lots of options to enjoy a curry across the whole of the English Riviera, so to help you celebrate, here’s our pick of some of the best spots. We’ve included curries from South and South East Asia, taking in Indian, Nepalese and Thai.

There’s always an excuse for a curry so go check them out!

Hamiltons, Torquay

Recently refurbished and re-opened, Hamilton’s is located right on the Babbacombe Downs. It is a restaurant and bar offering a relaxed fine dining experience. As well as an amazing curry, they also offer a pretty mean Sunday roast!

These guys are known for their scenic views, creative cuisine and friendly staff!

We recommend - Malaysian Prawn & Monkfish Creamy Aromatic Curry with rice noodles, crispy shallots, coriander & spiced hazelnuts (featured above).

Thai Garden Restaurant, Paignton

Here you will experience all the sights, smells and sounds of Thailand! Located right in the heart of Paignton, on Palace Avenue it is easy to walk straight to or from town and even accessible via Paignton train station. You can also bring your own booze and corkage is a very generous £1 per head, go steady!

We recommend - Kaeng Keaw wan kai roti - a very popular and traditional dish. A medium spicy chicken green curry with aubergines, bamboo shoots and red peppers in coconut milk served with a Thai crispy pancake.

Torbay Thai, Paignton

This fabulous Thai restaurant is like walking into your Aunties living room, its small but the service and the food is incredible. What’s more it’s ‘bring your own booze’ (BYOB) so makes for a very economical way to go out and enjoy some great food! They will even keep your booze cold for you in their fridge and serve it when you are ready!

We recommend - Either the king prawn red or green Thai curry with coconut rice. Both are amazing and you can tell them how HOT you want to go.

Nepalese Gurkha, Paignton

This is a small and unassuming curry house offering a mix of familiar Indian and Himalayan specialities. Always a warm welcome awaits you!

We recommend - Jimbhoo Jhaneko - A hot dish with tenderly sliced and freshly cooked clay oven chicken or lamb in a delicious blend of strong Nepalese spices served with fresh coriander, tomatoes, spring onion, coconut milk and capsicum.

Maha Bharat Indian Torquay

This is a fairly simple restaurant offering Bengali and Indian dishes including favourites such as balti and tandoori. Located just a few minutes from Torquay harbour this is a great spot before or after a night out with friends!

We recommend - Bengal Mossalla - Your choice of chicken, lamb or prawn cooked with onions, tomatoes, pineapples, flaked almonds, sultanas & fresh herbs
