The Purple Tree Guest House is a large, beautifully extended Victorian house located just a 15-minute walk from Torquay seafront and the town centre. Set within a private garden with a sun terrace, guests can enjoy our seasonal outdoor swimming pool and hot tub — the perfect place to relax and unwind in Torquay’s famously mild coastal climate. The swimming pool is heated during the summer months from June onwards.

Whether you are visiting for a romantic coastal break, a relaxing seaside escape, a family holiday or to explore the beautiful South Devon coastline, The Purple Tree offers a comfortable and welcoming place to stay. It is also an ideal base from which to leave the car behind and explore the English Riviera and South Devon on foot or by public transport.

A freshly prepared full cooked breakfast with buffet options is available for £10 per person. Guests are kindly asked to let us know the evening before if they would like breakfast the following morning so it can be prepared fresh for them. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, along with free private parking on a first-come, first-served basis, with additional on-street parking nearby.

We offer a range of elegant en-suite rooms to suit families, couples and solo travellers, all with Smart TVs and a complimentary refreshment tray and toiletries. Our superior rooms are also equipped with a small fridge for added convenience.

Children and well-behaved dogs are welcome at The Purple Tree Guest House, as we are dog owners ourselves. To ensure a comfortable stay for all guests, we allow a maximum of two dogs per room by prior arrangement. A small daily charge applies per dog and we reserve the right to charge for excessive cleaning or any damage caused.

Torre railway station is only 350 yards from the guest house, providing easy access to surrounding areas including Torquay Railway Station and the Agatha Christie Mile, where visitors can explore the life and work of the famous author.

The Purple Tree Guest House also has easy access to the Riviera International Centre, Torre Abbey, the promenade and Princess Theatre, as well as the marina with its wide choice of bars, cafés and restaurants.
