The Belmont is the ideal place to enjoy a short getaway or family break.   Torquay Rail Station and Torre Rail Station are conveniently located nearby for visitors arriving by train.  The English Riviera has an abundance of taxi companies as well as frequent bus services, run by Stagecoach South West, connecting Torquay, Babbacombe, Paignton and Brixham.

The English Riviera has 22 miles of stunning coastline and the South West Coast Path runs through the Naturally Inspiring area from Torquay to Brixham and beyond.  If you are keen walker, rambler, nature lover or photographer you will find many fascinating places to visit and admire along this famous route.  There are also 20 top beaches, including 10 award winning ones to enjoy.  Torre Abbey Sands (0.3 miles) is a long sandy stretch with a gently sloping tidal beach which makes it very safe for swimming and paddling - perfect for children and families.  There are stunning views from Torquay’s iconic spiral white footbridge.  Meadfoot Beach (1.8 miles) can be easily accessed by car or on foot.  There’s ample car parking nearby and it’s popular with paddleboarders, divers and fishing enthusiasts.

The English Riviera is one of the UK’s top, year-round holiday destinations with many family-friendly, visitor attractions.  Kents Cavern prehistoric caves (2.1 miles) is an award-winning, all-weather attraction in Torquay and a gateway site to the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark.

For visitors interested in arts and culture, Torquay is the birthplace of Agatha Christie, the best-selling female author of all time. Known throughout the world as the ‘Queen of Crime’, Agatha spent her childhood and much of her adult life in South Devon.  Visitors can walk the ‘Agatha Christie Mile’, a self-guided walking trail around Torquay to visit many of the places that inspired her and appeared in her famous stories.  Each year the International Agatha Christie Festival attracts visitors from all over the world.  Many venues across the English Riviera host Agatha Christie themed events and plays.

Torre Abbey Museum (0.4 miles) is an impressive scheduled monument and ancient monastery.  There’s 800 years of local history and culture housed within the Abbey ruins.  Kids and under 18’s enter for free with a paying, accompanying adult, making it a great value day out for all ages.

There are over 100 pubs and bars on the English Riviera, with many having amazing sea views and stunning countryside locations.  The area is also known as England’s Seafood Coast for the quality seafood that is landed locally at Brixham (9.1 miles) and sold at the famous, Brixham Fish Market.  Take an early morning tour for a behind-the-scenes look around the fish market and see the live auction that takes place each day.

South Devon’s Beautiful Bay has so much to offer, we’re sure that you’ll want to visit many times.

We look forward to welcoming you very soon.
