About Us

You’ll receive a very warm welcome from Matt and Gem, the owners of Seadog’s Retreat, a delightful self-catering cottage, only a 5-minute walk (0.8 miles) from Brixham’s quaint fishing harbour. The Seadog’s Retreat is the perfect getaway for some rest and relaxation by the sea in South Devon.

Brixham, one of the three main towns, alongside Paignton (6.1 miles) and Torquay (9 miles) that make up the famous English Riviera is very special and has plenty of charm. The world famous Brixham Fish Market (0.9 miles) and Berry Head Nature Reserve (1.5 miles), a gateway site to the English Riviera’s designated UNESCO Global Geopark are on the doorstep.

Family and child-friendly Brixham accommodation

Seadog’s Retreat on North View Road is in an elevated position and is the perfect holiday spot for couples and families. It’s very child-friendly and is well equipped with a baby bath, stair gates and a baby monitor to make life as easy as possible for young families. The owners know how important it is to bring your canine companion along on holiday too so well-behaved pets are welcome to stay in the downstairs living areas. Please check at time of booking.

Stunning sea views of Brixham harbour and beyond

There is a lovely outside terrace and balcony with a table and chairs for some alfresco dining and to enjoy the stunning harbour and far reaching sea views. Watch daily life in the bustling Devon fishing town below with the colourful array of heritage sailing trawlers, Western Lady ferry and vast number of fishing dayboats that visit the quayside and working harbour.

There is some parking on the road outside the cottage as well as restriction free parking in surrounding streets as well as pay and display car parks in the town centre (0.8 miles). There is a well-equipped kitchen with all modern facilities and a King-sized bed in the main guest room, providing that extra special treat and home-from-home feel.

Explore Brixham on your doorstep

Brixham is at the heart of England’s Seafood Coast and has the highest quality fish and seafood caught in the local waters, landed and sold at Brixham Fish Market and served up in many of the local cafes, pubs, restaurants and takeaways. Whether you prefer to rustle up a homemade dish using the finest seafood ingredients bought in the town or sample a fish and chips supper on Brixham harbourside, it will be some of the freshest and tastiest that the West Country has to offer.

Seadog’s Retreat is within an easy 5-minute walk of Breakwater Beach (1.1 mile), a Blue Flag & Seaside Award winner with a gently sloping small, pebble beach and calm warm waters. This is a popular spot for scuba diving and exploring the stunning underwater landscapes.  Brixham’s Breakwater close by provides breath-taking panoramic sea views and Shoalstone Seawater Pool, a 10-minute walk away is one of only a handful of outdoor seawater lidos in the country that still exist. Hire a deck chair or sun lounger and enjoy the mild English Riviera climate and relaxing holiday atmosphere.

A stay at Seadog’s Retreat in Brixham really does have everything to offer to create those lasting holiday memories.
