Rosemary Cottage is a two-bedroom, four person plus babe 18th century, Grade 2 listed former fisherman's cottage, with low ceilings and exposed original beams (can you spot the old ship's mast!) nestling in a quiet road a short walk from the vibrant Harbour Bowl area of Brixham and the town centre. The Cottage is a relaxing place to unwind after a busy day, taking some refreshment in the courtyard area, It offers a quaint historic setting yet has the modern facilities you'd expect.
From the pastel washed front of the Cottage, you enter straight into the living room which has a soft airy feel, with sofa and relaxing tub chairs, full HD TV, window seat looking out onto the quiet road, quaint fireplace with log burner effect electric heater and wall lights to create a great space for relaxation. A folding table and chairs can be pulled out for informal dining.
Through the door to the modern-equipped kitchen which has a full sized electric oven and hob, fridge and freezer compartment, washing machine, microwave, stainless steel basin and draining board, and the usual equipment for four people.
From here a wooden stable door opens out onto the patio with table and chairs, and shared courtyard which is a real suntrap, where you can sit at the cafe style table to eat and drink alfresco.
Back into the front room you ascend the spiral stairs to the first floor and the well proportioned main double bedroom with its West Country seaside ambiance. The double bed has a comfortable mattress, and the room features the usual bedroom facilities including HD TV, radio alarm clock, wicker chair. hair dryer and cupboards for clothes. There is a window seat for "people watching" in the street below.
Across the landing is a large modern shower room with large shower area, wash basin, mirror and large velux window creating a bright and airy space.
Ascending the spiral staircase once more takes you to the second floor with its twin bedroom which has a HD TV, radio alarm clock, wicker chair, wardrobe and bedside cabinets. From the window seat there are views out over the marina and the breakwater towards the Bay and Torquay, where you can watch the comings and goings of the fishing fleet, or the yachts sailing in the Bay.
A small number of books, games, puzzles and DVDs are provided to keep everyone entertained for those "stay at home" evenings.
We also provide a travel cot and mattress and a high chair for infants, and a safety gate for doorways or stairs, found underneath the spiral stairs in the lounge. There is also an airer for drying clothes and those towels and swimsuits after a day at the beach!
Rosemary Cottage is old and the stairs are steep. Whilst it is family friendly, parents are advised to ensure that children are properly supervised. Parking is free on the surrounding roads, with a small "drop off" area in front of the cottage. There is more parking back into the Town and Breakwater area in large public car parks. Close to the South-west Coastal Footpath and great area for cycling and walking (our guests tell us so!).
