Nestled in the heart of this historic fishing town, Beacon House bed & breakfast commands the most stunning views of Brixham Harbour, the marina and out into the bay. This iconic Victorian House, built in the 1850’s, has been totally but compassionately re-furbished offering guests private car parking, Wi-Fi, stunning views and en-suite facilities and at the same time retaining its charm and heritage.
25th of July 2019 was the day we visited Brixham, we fell in love with this town, that day was the beginning of our journey to acquire “Beacon House” and ultimately to run a small but lovely Bed & Breakfast. Hervé, originally from Brittany dream to live by the sea, Nathalie, originally from Mauritius was missing the seaside ambiance, we both worked in the hospitality industry for all our working life and when you get hooked with that kind of living, it is very difficult to stop!
Breakfast is served in the Captain’s lounge, next to the Galley, which is a beautiful, bright room, with a huge bay window offering wonderful views of the marina, breakwater and beyond. You can hear the seagulls…. The room also has a number of paintings and pictures which were in our late fish restaurant, “The Lobster Pot” in London for 25 years, they found an appropriate new home here.Wherever possible we source produce locally and everything is freshly prepared, from the range of cereals and jams to the various cooked options there is always something for the most demanding palates.
Its 5 minutes walk (a little longer on the way back up) down to the bustling harbour frontage with its café’s, shops, restaurants and bars. Dartmouth (famous for the Dartmouth Regetta) is only some 4 miles away, with Torquay and Paignton just short ferry rides. In addition Brixham benefits from excellent local bus services and the steam railway, which links Paignton to Kingswear can be boarded at Churston just 3 miles out of Brixham. Beacon House is the ideal base to explore this beautiful part of the country and enjoy its many festivals and events. Cyclists and walkers are particularly welcome as the SW coastal path is just a few yards from the front door.
A warm welcome awaits you from your hosts, Hervé & Nathalie, we both speak French and English, Nathalie speaks Mandarin & Hakka too.

Travel into Brixham and follow the signs to the harbour / quayside. Once on the harbour front with the shops and cafés to your left and the harbour to your right, continue past Brixham fish market and Crab Quay Restaurant, up the hill, sharp hair pin bend to your left, carry up the hill and just as the road bears to the right carry straight on into North Furzeham Rd which after a few yards becomes South Furzeham Rd and you will find Beacon House car park 100 yds up on the left hand side.
Once at the bus station adjacent to the town square, walk down Middle Street, turn left up Broad steps, right at the top of the steps, up the lane, left (hairpin bend) at Prospect Rd, then right up Prospect Steps and look for the blue door on the right hand side which will lead you onto the patio. Alternatively there are taxis next to the bus station or if you pre book, either Nigel or Amanda can pick you up
