Geopark Festival 2019 in Torbay, Devon

The UNESCO Global Geopark status is something which really makes The English Riviera a unique place to visit. Come and celebrate with us, during the Geopark Festival which runs from the 25 - 31 May 2019.

There is a whole host of events running the entire week to celebrate our global status - come along and get stuck in, but please remember our geology is special and important to us so please help us care for it and take only memories with you.

If Not Now is an interactive performance workshop with One Step Theatre.

Young Sally struggles to reconcile her inner eco-warrior with her Mum's battle to support a family under the pressures of modern life. If Not Now explores the relationship with the current plastic crisis, raising important environmental questions using playful storytelling and games. We invite those young and old to take part in this urgent conversation that will shape our futures for generations to come.   The workshop will last approximately 75 minutes and parents/guardians are encouraged to stay and join in the action (physical participation optional). If Not Now is an interactive workshop that uses performances and play for those aged 8 and above.

Fun, Beach Cleans and Paddle for Plastic!

Description:

Join Torbay Cleaner Coasts Initiative over the Bank holiday weekend to help clean up Brixham. There will be a stand at the Brix Fest event and beach clean ups over the Sunday and Monday. Find out how to reduce your plastic use and also get involved in coastal clean ups across the Bay.  A Paddle for Plastic will also take place over the Sunday or Monday in Brixham Harbour.

Join us for a fossil hunt around Torre Abbey Museum and Gardens, then use Devon soils to create your own Devonian fossil street art, drawing your fossils straight on to the ground outside the Learning Lab. Join Sea Kayak Torbay and discover Meadfoot, Hope’s Nose and Shennell Cove’s geological sites of scientific interest with a local expert. Visit the Islands of the Orestone and Thatcher Rock to meet our marine residents.

Cancellations: If the sea state or winds are unfavourable a refund or voucher will be offered, if we can deliver the tour in the afternoon/evening or another day we will work with the client to find another opportunity to deliver the tour.

 

If the client needs to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, a voucher will be offered for when the client is available to complete.

 

£50 deposit is required to confirm seats on the tour; full payment is required 72 hours before departure.
