Paignton
Paignton is a fabulous seaside town in the English Riviera, South Devon’s beautiful bay. Tucked in between Torquay and Brixham, it’s got a safe and sandy beach, a pier with plenty of fun and frolics and some spectacular views. And if you’re here at Christmas you’re in for a real treat, as the lights and decorations create a magical atmosphere in which to shop.
The beach shops are always a fun place to explore. Stock up on your seaside supplies and purchase a few sticks of rock to take home with you. Alternatively, head into town where you’ll find well-known national stores and independent family-run businesses, all welcoming visitors with a friendly smile and some great bargains too.
Don’t miss Torbay Road and Victoria Street, both of which are popular with shoppers. Also well worth a look is Winner Street, lined with a choice of individual and stylish shops and offering something a little different from the usual fare.
Whatever the time of year, Paignton has plenty to offer even the most experienced shopaholic. With award-winning bookshops, jewellers, wool and linen wear, leather goods and an excellent fair-trade farm shop, there is something for everyone.
Paignton a great place to shop but once you’ve spent all your energy (and money) there are plenty of ways relax. Stroll along the pier, chill out on the beach, enjoy a drink in one of the many cafés or restaurants or indulge in a real Devon cream tea to finish the day off perfectly.
