Occombe Farm, opened in 2006, offers a whole new Devon food and farming experience for all the family.
View Ruby Red cows, pigs, sheep grazing in the fields and hens and ducks in the orchard. Stroll along the 2km nature trail winding through the beautiful Devon countryside and peep at the birds feeding in a woodland glade from the bird hide. Alternatively, simply enjoy a cappuccino or latte in The Bake House café whilst watching live images of nesting birds beamed back from the site’s webcams.
Occombe is all about food and is a showcase for the region’s great produce. The farm shop brims with locally-produced goods with a delicatessen, traditional butchery, staples, beer and wine and fruit and vegetables. The in-house organic bakery guarantees that visitors are greeted each morning with the mouth-watering scent of freshly made bread and cakes. Stock up for picnics, or buy everything you need for a BBQ, including burgers (voted “the best ever” by the BBC Good Food Magazine in 2007). The farmshop has also been voted the Best Newcomer 2008 for the farmshop from FARMA (National Farmer’s Retail and Markets Association).
Additionally, a series of wildlife walks, food and farming events, including the Occombe Beer Festival, run throughout the year.
Occombe Farm is situated just off the Torbay ring road (A380) at the junction with Preston Down Road. Occombe Farm is open daily from 9am to 5.30pm (Sunday 10am to 4pm) and free to enter, with free parking.
