Food And Drink Trail

Some of the very best West Country produce awaits you here on the English Riviera, South Devon's Beautiful Bay, so we’ve created a fabulous Food and Drink Trail with some of our favourite English Riviera Foodie Experiences.   With its wonderfully mild climate, fishing and farming traditions as well as home-made ciders, beers, wines and cheeses, the English Riviera is a food-lovers delight. Couples, friends and families as well as children, will enjoy some of the best food and drink they have ever tasted right here in a variety of spectacular settings.

Nowadays, everyone wants to know the provenance of their food and drink so they can be sure it’s fresh, delicious and top quality and on the English Riviera you can see for yourself on the English Riviera Food and Drink Trail.  Brixham has one of the best fish markets in the country, landing fresh catch for local restaurants and eateries every day. And every year Fishstock, the seafood and music festival on the new fish quay is a huge hit with foodies of all ages. Hanbury’s Fish and Chips in Torquay is regularly voted one of the best in the UK.

For the meat eaters, we have plenty of traditional farms with Occombe Farm and Cookery School near Paignton providing fresh, local & organic food & drink, an award winning shop, a café and nature trail plus an events programme including cookery workshops. More delights await in the beautiful and historic country estate of Cockington in Torquay where Tony Fagan, the chocolatier also runs Cockingon Court Café. Cider is locally produced at Hunts Cider of Paignton and you can visit Bays Brewery in Paignton and sample their famous Devon Dumpling brew.  Look out for special foodie events with Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust that include the legendary Mussels by Moonlight and Sea to Plate boat trips.  Plus, no-one should go home without trying one of the English Riviera’s famous cream teas with local Devonshire cream and home-made jam.  The English Riviera holds the record for world’s biggest scone.  And the English Riviera also has splendid home-made cakes and breads. Why not try Dot’s Pantry in Torquay for a real treat to eat in or take home.  Delicious!
