Brixham

Brixham on the English Riviera, in South Devon’s beautiful bay, is the place to be when it comes to the best fish restaurants in the Westcountry.

Crab Quay House in Brixham is the town’s newest eatery, situated right next to the fish market at the very heart of the Harbourside, with spectacular views out over the water. Open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner there is always a great choice of fresh local dining available.

Down the road, Simply Fish, a fish and shellfish restaurant, offers a more traditional range of seafood options. Grab a bag for a trip to the beach, or stop in and enjoy a little fishy fine dining. Less well-known fish such as pout are cooked to raise awareness of the sustainability of our waters; but don't be surprised if for the kids it's chips and curry sauce, every time.

Overlooking the historic port is The Sprat and Mackerel, a classic pub/restaurant specialising in a variety of fresh seafood dishes. A wonderful place to have a bite to eat and sample the various ales on offer, right in the centre of bustling Brixham.

Along the marina, the dog-friendly Breakwater Bistro offers classics such as scallops; so fresh you'll often see divers bring them in from the bay. This popular restaurant also serves some of the lightest, creamiest chocolate fondue you've ever tasted!

Smugglers Haunt

Other good eateries include the One World Café, located within the beautiful Berry Head Nature Reserve; the Old Market House, situated in a converted Grade II listed building on the harbourside; the Berry Head Hotel, for fine dining with spectacular views, and the atmospheric Smugglers Haunt, with its tales of smugglers and ancient history - and a tiramisu to die for!
