Life’s a Beach

If your idea of summer heaven is relaxing on a beach, then the English Riviera is for you. Ten of the region’s stunning beaches have won the prestigious Blue Flag in 2011 in recognition of their cleanliness and safety. With gently sloping shores, a treasure trove of rock pools and regular lifeguard patrols, these beaches are perfect for families with young children. The Seashore Centre at Goodrington Sands offers further, supervised entertainment for younger ones.

The English Riviera has also been awarded Global Geopark status, supported by UNESCO, in recognition of its diverse geological importance. The summer allows holiday makers the chance to really get to explore the countryside and all it has to offer through the Geopark’s Discovery Packages. There are a number of family packages on offer, including the tasty Mussels by Moonlight boat trip.

Events

In the summer, the English Riviera is home to a number of events with the regatta season a popular reason to visit. Torbay Royal Regatta and Torbay Week offer the very best in maritime competitions and entertainment, with visits from the Red Arrows and fireworks displays. You’ll also find fun fairs in Paignton and Torquay to enjoy during the balmy summer evenings.
