Walking Holidays Devon
There’s no better way to explore the English Riviera, South Devon’s beautiful bay, than on foot. Not only do you get to explore places that you wouldn’t see from a car, but you save on fuel costs and can forget about the hassle of driving through an area you’re unfamiliar with. There are 22 miles of coastline to explore and hundreds of inland routes, all broken up into easy-to-follow walks.
Left Foot, Right Foot...
The walking routes that cross the Riviera’s beautiful countryside are managed by the Coast and Countryside Trust, who have graded the walks according to difficulty. Grade 1 walks are the easiest and even have access for wheelchair users, whilst Grade 6 walks are the hardest for fit and experienced enthusiasts. The South Devon Coastal Footpath has been broken down into 16 walks, and the routes take you through hidden villages, unspoilt scenery and beautiful beaches. There are various pubs and inns in the area, so you can work up a thirst and reward yourself with a pint of local beer or a home-cooked meal. The routes take in sights such as Hopes Nose, Saltern Cove and the world famous Geopark at Berry Head.
Where to Stay
The best accommodation for a walking holiday is self-catering. There is plenty of accommodation to choose from, catering for all tastes and budgets, and if you plan ahead you can arrange B&Bs or hotel rooms along your route and really spend some time exploring this spectacular part of the country.
