Torquay Is The Friendliest Place On Earth!

TORQUAY IS THE FRIENDLIEST PLACE IN THE UK - IT'S OFFICAL (ALMOST...)
Group Travel operators have voted Torquay into the finals for Most Group-Friendly UK Destination. The awards are nominated by readers of leading industry magazine Group Travel Organiser, which is read by tour operators and group organisers across the UK. The Group Travel Awards have earned the reputation of being the most prestigious event serving the group travel market, and reflect a highly valued endorsement from customers in this important market sector.
The award for the Most Group-Friendly Destination is the most sought after award of the evening and representatives from the English Riviera Tourist team will be keeping their fingers crossed when they attend the gala evening being held at the Radisson SAS Hotel in London. A victory in this category would compliment the success the English Riviera enjoyed at the 2004 event, when they walked away with the coveted award for Best UK Resort.
"We are very delighted to have been nominated," enthuses Aviva Pearson, Director of Tourism, "especially as these awards are voted for by our customers. It is a great accolade, and one we must share with all of the hotels, attractions and other businesses in the Bay, who work together to make sure groups have a fantastic and memorable stay in the area. Group travel is vital to our economy and it is exciting that the people who count have given us as a destination this welcome recognition and pat on the back."
This year, there were a record number of responses from readers to the voting forms, which appeared in three consecutive editions of the monthly GTO magazine. The 11 Group Travel Awards will take place on Friday 22 June, while Torquay will not know if they have won until the envelope is opened on the night.
