Tor Bay Harbour in Devon is a natural harbour encompassing 16 square miles of sheltered waters, bordered to the west by the horseshoe-shaped coastline of the English Riviera.
Torquay Harbour lies on the North shore of Tor Bay and despite a high proportion of activities revolving around the leisure industry, Torquay still remains a fully operational and busy little port and is very close to the town centre giving easy access to shops, restaurants and bars.
Paignton harbour was established in the 18th Century, some 500 years before Queen Victoria's accession to the throne. The local Council has managed the harbour since 1935. Paignton was a thriving fishing harbour for many years and some of the old traditions of seamanship are kept alive and passed on through generations of Paigntonians.
Today the harbour remains a hive of activity, especially during the summer months and a vast range of different users enjoy the benefits of this friendly little harbour.
Brixham Harbour is located on the southern aspect of Tor Bay and boasts one of the largest fishing fleets in the UK, plus a thriving fish market to support it.
Over 100 fishing boats land and sell their catch at the daily local Fish Market on the quayside. Watch the daily bustle for the quayside viewing platform and see the busy comings and goings of large beam trawlers and the smaller day boats. Some of the smaller day boats can actually been seen working at various vantage points around Tor Bay i.e. Berry Head, Fishcombe and Hopes Nose.
Brixham harbour and waterfront area is being redeveloped to create improved facilities for the busy fish market, new berthing facilities and enhanced protection for the enclosed harbour.
