Dawlish

Dawlish is one of the most archetypal seaside towns in the country. Once a tiny fishing port, it’s now a lively yet relaxed holiday destination for people who want to make their budget stretch further, without skimping on fun.

Famous for its black swans, Dawlish is a traditional seaside resort with red sandstone cliffs overlooking a sandy beach. If you get the chance, take a train to or from the town, as the railway runs right alongside the seafront – a particularly dramatic ride especially in the winter.

Dawlish Warren Beach Resort and Nature Reserve

Close to the town centre, Dawlish Warren Blue Flag beach resort and nature reserve is a great day out for the family, with miles of sandy beaches, pirate-themed mini-golf, go-karting and an assortment of amusements and children’s rides. For the adults, there’s an 18-hole golf course and a pedestrianised shopping area - enough to keep everyone happy.

The wildlife reserve there is world class, and the keen-eyed can spot a variety of small mammals, birds, reptiles and insects throughout the year.

Dawlish knows how to have a good time, too. August sees lots of events in the town all leading up to Dawlish Carnival week while the Dawlish Air Show is another big summer attraction.

Whether you want to lie on the beach, make a splash in the water or chill out in the town, make sure you visit to Dawlish when you stay on the English Riviera, South Devon’s beautiful bay.
