About
For old world grandeur and traditional British charm, the Grand has been Torquay’s landmark hotel for over 130 years. Overlooking one of the finest bays, this elegant Victorian hotel offers 132 individually styled bedrooms, The Grand spa, AA rosette restaurant 1881 and is surrounded by 22 miles of spectacular Devon coastline.
Agatha Christie spent her honeymoon night here with her first husband, Archie, on Christmas Eve 1914. Today the hotel boasts an Agatha Christie Suite furnished in a 1930’s style, with a vintage typewriter under a portrait of the author. The Agatha Christie suite can comfortably accommodate up to 5 people; it consists of a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a lounge which has a sofa bed, and a spacious bathroom.
The individual and comfortably furnished bedrooms spread over 4 floors – many with wonderful sea views of Torbay. We offer a variety of room categories, from single and double rooms to family rooms and suites. All have en-suite bathrooms and offer tea and coffee-making facilities, hairdryer, TV and toiletries as standard. Our executive rooms and suites offer some extra special touches to make your stay even more comfortable. We also have a heated indoor and outdoor pool, multi-gym, hot tub and sauna. Revive body, mind and spirits with ESPA at Spa at the Grand. Relax and rejuvenate with a choice of luxury treatments, products and packages designed with the individual in mind. The Grand Hotel, Torquay is an AA 4 Star hotel and our Restaurant 1818 also holds an AA Rosette for Fine Dining. WIFI is available in all public areas. The Grand has one bedroom with fully-equipped wet room, fitted with grab rails around the bathroom and it is situated on the ground floor. A shower stool can be provided for use in this room.
We also have:
- A number of rooms with walk-in showers, of all categories except single rooms
- Two lifts that service all floors and can accommodate a wheelchair
- Bar, Lounge, and Restaurant are all on the ground floor
- Disabled access ramp for entrance into the hotel itself
- Pool and leisure facilities on the lower ground floor are accessible by lift and then a flight of 3 steps. (Note: Feb 2022 - Due to a fire inside our pool area, our leisure facilities are out of action and closed to the public until further notice. We’re renovating and should be open within a few months. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. We would like to thank all guests and non-residents for the kind messages and our hardworking team who are making this possible).
