Pubs & Bars

Here on the English Rivera, South Devon’s beautiful bay, we’ve got so many great attractions that you might find you need a rest and a good old English cuppa once in a while. Fortunately, we also have no shortage of cafés – perfect for recharging the batteries for another round of ‘Can we go here? Let’s go there!’ from the kids.

Torquay has a huge number of cafés to choose from, but there’s one you simply must check out. Serendipity is a café and patisserie in the centre of town which is popular with both locals and visitors. The perfect antidote to bland chain café’s, One World Cafe serves fairtrade coffee, a wide selection of teas and a delicious selection of fresh homemade pastries and light bites all day long.

Great tea and local produce

If you’re exploring Berry Head in Brixham, be sure to stop by The Guardhouse. You’ll find it easily – it’s the café located within the old Napoleonic fort! As well as a lovely cup of tea or coffee, they also serve breakfast, lunch and dinner using the finest local ingredients. Start the day right with an excellent value Full English, featuring South Devon farm produce.

To get even closer to the source of good local food, head over to the cafe at Occombe farm on the edge of Paignton. As well as sampling traditional homemade dishes made from produce grown on the farm, you can find a delicious piece of the English Riviera to take home with you from the farm shop downstairs.

The Perfect Pint

Alongside the fine dining and activities we've got to offer, we’re also proud of our friendly British pubs offering real ales, cocktails and breathtaking views out over the English Riviera, South Devon's beautiful bay. Look for your new local in this list of South Devon's best and brightest watering holes.

There are some fine pubs in and around Paignton. The friendly Henry’s Bar is a traditional, comfortable British pub located right in the centre of town. There's also nearby Grand Central, for a great central location and coffee and breakfast deals. They've also got six large screens and 3D TV, perfect for sports and a pint in the afternoon.
