Babbacombe can be described as ‘peaceful’, ‘genteel’ and ‘relaxing’. Perched on the highest promenade in Britain, Babbacombe commands spectacular vistas, stretching over 40 miles on a clear day to Dorset. Its colourful floral displays, pretty shops and cafes make it a magnet for guests looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. So, it may come as a shock to learn the town holds many unexpected stories from its past. Within the space of 400 metres are the scenes for two of the most high profile court cases of the 19th century. Queen Victoria and Albert were regular visitors to Babbacombe. Be amazed to see how Mother Nature is eroding the coastline and making houses unsaleable. Then there’s a model village with over 13,000 inhabitants……and an award winning park that bans animals and children!
